20 Fat Loss Tips

March 10th, 2010

In case that “diet” hasn’t worked…

1. About 5 minutes before lunch or dinner, drink a
glass of water or use a juicer to juice organic
veggies or fruit. Allowing you to fill your
stomach up so you don’t eat as much food.

2. When choosing breads, biscuits and muffins go with
organic whole grains such as spelt, buckwheat,
barley and so on. Use organic natural spreads,
free of chemicals and additives.

3. Replace soft drinks and fruit juice with water.

4. ALWAYS eat breakfast. A meat source such as steak,
chicken, fish, or eggs with some fruit or some
steal cut oatmeal will jump start your metabolism.
Eating breakfast will stabilize your blood sugar
and prevent overeating the wrong foods later.

5. Between meals, chewing gum may satisfy your sweet
tooth at less than 10 calories. Be mindful of
dental health and don’t overdo it! Chew organic
natural gums free of aspartame and other harmful
chemicals.

6. When the need to really treat one’s self arises,
opt for organic ice cream, cookies, or something
sweet like a protein shake with some fresh or
frozen fruit. However, just enough to satisfy the
urge since they contain sugar! Make it natural
sugar.

7. Consider consuming coconut oil for breakfast or
lunch to help stabilize your blood sugar and keep
the fat off.

8. Avoid dairy and cheese to help keep the fat off.

9. Replace your snack foods with organic snacks, like
raw almonds, cashews and pumpkin seeds, though be
careful because calories can add up fast.

10. Replace milk with raw milk or at least organic
milk which will rid your body of unhealthy
hormones. Or avoid milk all together, you can get
plenty of calcium from leafy greens.

11. Don’t alter your food. Consume your food as
mother nature intended you to, naturally. If they
have to process the food, package it or change it
from how you would eat it in nature, avoid it.

12. Remember Fruit should be your favorite dessert.
Make fruit something you crave and if necessary
add small amounts of organic brownies, cake, or
pie.

13. Remember to follow your body’s bio-chemistry;
what you are made to eat and what allows you to
function the best and read about your body’s
metabolic typing.

14. When the urge for pizza arises, make it. Buy
organic pizza dough and add fresh organic
toppings, raw cheese, and enjoy.

15. Watch out for the salad bar, just because it is a
salad doesn’t necessarily mean you can eat as
much as you want. Use vinegar and oil for
dressing. It is a better choice than creamy
Italian, Ranch or house dressings. Be careful
with shredded cheese, potato salad, and sour
cream as well.

16. Avoid all fried foods. And if you feel the need
to eat fried food use coconut oil so it can
hold up to the high temperature of frying as
opposed to vegetable oils that go rancid and can
lead to health problems and gaining weight.

17. Buy French fries that can be baked instead of
fried. Still blot well to remove excess grease!
Or even better buy sweet potatoes and make them
into French fries.

18. Try to avoid processed foods. Chemicals,
additives and colors are not healthy, and these
food are often high in calories. Eating an apple
will fill your stomach and be better in the long
run. Don’t forget, at least one fruit or
vegetable with every meal, preferably organic.

19. Occasional indulgences are allowable, but don’t
feel a diet has been ruined and give up because
you “cheated.” Just be mindful during the
upcoming days and remember that your body is
constantly burning calories and fuel.

20. Move as much and whenever possible, even if it’s
using the stairs instead of the elevator, or
walking instead of driving to meet the kids.
Revisit a sport or activity once loved, or
attempt an entirely new physical activity. Check
the library for free workout videos, hire a
personal trainer or find a television exercise
show, for private exercise. Play with the kids.
Do what you enjoy!

Once pounds start coming off, and clothes start feeling big, these minor changes will no longer seem difficult. They will become the path to a healthier new life, new body and most importantly a new you!

Lose Weight Quick Without Exercise as Fast as Possible Tip – Alkaline Foods

March 10th, 2010

In this tip, you will learn one of the major reasons why you gain weight in the first place. If you want to lose weight, then you have to stop storing fat first.

You see, one of the main reasons your body even stores fat in the first place, is because it is storing toxins and excess acids in your fat cells, so as to keep them away from your vital organs.

Your body then holds onto this fat until it gets the alkalinity and any other nutrient it might need to neutralize these toxins, so that they can be safely eliminated.

If you neutralize these toxins first, then your body can burn your body fat for energy, without also burning these toxins.

Burning toxic body fat for fuel will make you feel bad, and this is why as soon as your body starts to burn body fat, you reach for more food. But once you neutralize the toxins with the right nutrients from the right foods, it will be much more comfortable for your body to switch over to burning fat instead, or along with your carbohydrates.

You will want to start to eat more foods that will make your body alkaline, and less of the foods that make you acidic.

Foods that make you acidic

Coffee, liquor, sodas, artificial sweeteners, meats, breads, tortillas, ketchup, mayo, mustard, cheese, margarine, milk, sugar, candy, white rice, breakfast cereals, biscuits, cookies, cakes, pies, vinegar, roasted nuts, canned tomatoes, bottled juices, eggs, oats, bananas, dates, table salt, and cooked acid fruits (like lemon, orange, tomatoes,) are some of the foods that will make you acidic.

When you eat foods that make you acidic, and at the same time you are eating a lot of carbohydrates, then that is the magic formula for gaining fat. Some people can really pack on a lot of pounds in a very short time eating this way.

Foods that make you alkaline

Raw carrot juice, raw orange juice, raw leafy green vegetable juice, raw barley grass powder, and raw wheat grass juice, and raw fruits and smoothies made mostly with raw citrus fruits, apples, strawberries, ect.

Also cooked green beans, extra virgin olive oil, raw coconut oil, raw almonds, raw neutral vegetables (like lettuces, carrots, peppers, onions, squash, sprouts), Sea salt, and raw lemon juice, are good examples of foods that will help you to alkalize your body.

Eating more alkaline foods will set your body up to easily let go of the excess body fat it is currently using to store this excess acid and toxins in. This will make it a lot easier for you to lose weight and be comfortable in the process.

Correcting your body ph, and detoxing the fat cells is one of the major things that you will want to do if you want to be successful in losing weight as fast as possible.

Some people have been successful at losing weight by strenuous exercise, but if you have a lot of weight to lose, then it would be a lot healthier for you to lose most of your excess body fat first, by simply changing your diet.

Look for the rest of my articles where I will go into detail about the other steps you must take if you want to lose weight without exercise by mainly changing your diet.

Slim Down Low Fat Recipes - Lose Weight the Hard Way or the “easy” Way

March 10th, 2010

Do people who are looking to lose weight need help while doing so? This can have but two answers, yes and no. To decipher who would need guidance and who doesn`t, would depend on the individual themselves. Some people have the ability, and quickly pick up on how to choose and follow a sensible diet plan, whereas others find it difficult to without assistance. These particular dieters need company for encouragement, and to help strengthen their weaknesses which may hamper their chance of losing excess weight; without aid these people struggle with being consistent with their diet, and effortlessly find they cannot control the temptation to give in, or give up.

Weight loss is a major issue around the world because of the dangers to one`s health that obesity can cause. Let us face it, while you are grossly overweight, you are never going to be able to sit comfortable on a plane, look good in a bikini or win a marathon. Aside from these pointers it is all about health and inner vital organs like the heart. Obesity can cause heart failure. Keeping your weight down and your body healthy will have you see a new change of life. Things like running for a bus and being able to “catch it,” walking up the stairs without puffing and panting, or playing with the “grandkids,” or sadly in some cases the “kids.” Mom and dad if you are obese then if not for yourself think of the children and lose weight.

Are you familiar with phrases like?

Spare Tire

Love Handles

Muffin Top

Pot Belly

If you are then something tells me you may be looking to lose belly fat. The above references are not very flattering but neither is a podgy or flabby tummy. For some there may be no real issue concerning true obesity only that of a sagging belly or other fatty body parts. To lose weight, not only do you need a diet that works or a brain that thinks logically, but more importantly believing in yourself that you can get your weight down,

Below is a couple of slim plan weight loss recipes for those who can go it alone unaided, however for the people that can`t and see dieting as a problem, then you can join other happy dieters following the weightloss4idiots weight loss program. Each recipe has been carefully chosen to help you lose weight and make your diet a success in shedding the pounds. Eating healthily isn’t complicated once you know the basics. The balance of good health will help you plan for a healthy diet. Not many people who look to lose weight know what healthy eating means - and is there any wonder why with so much contradiction over particular diets. People under medical supervision and with special dietary requirements, and maybe taking specific prescriptive drugs should never attempt to diet or take up exercise without consulting their doctor first.

If you are trying to eat more healthily in order to slim down then you’ll need to pay attention to calories intake. It is not difficult to diet as some people think. Dieting is about following the guidelines and doing as suggested by the experts involved with your chosen weight loss plan to lose weight. The hardest part about the whole concept of dieting is, once you have achieved your ideal weight, is to keep it that way.

Some useful advice to help keep the weight off

There are certain sweetened juices and sugary beverages that can add unwanted calories, so avoid and drink diet pop, or better still water to quench your thirst. Sometimes the body craves food because it is dehydrated and drinking water is the best solution to remedy this.

Eat small healthy snacks; this stops your body from crashing because of low sugar throughout the day. Take in fiber - fiber keeps you feeling fuller longer (whole grain toast instead of white) and it will stop you from snacking on junk food.

If possible, keep healthy foods (fruits, healthy dishes) in visible places such as your kitchen sides, coffee table or at eye level on other household surfaces, this makes you more likely to nibble on healthier foods. Keep bad foods out of sight. The amount you eat in one portion is vitally important, when eating; use your dinner plate as a guide for specific food groups. Half of the plate should host fruit and vegetables, one quarter for grains/carbs, and the final quarter for meats. Plan your meals ahead of schedule eating times. This gives you the opportunity to consider different nutritional foods for your meals. An unorganized menu will have you eat foods as a matter of convenience to fill that gap.

An easy way of getting a few portions of vegetables into your daily diet is to make a tasty and filling soup. Leftover homemade soups can be put in a flask to make a quick, easy, low cal lunch for school, work or o take way a hunger pang.

Reheat, season and serve

No matter how tasty a meal is after it has been cooked or prepared, many of us are still inclined to spice our meals up with sauces and relishes. Although these can add that extra zest, they can be threatening and upset the apple cart so as to speak in your attempt to lose weight. Let us say you have made every effort to make a healthy green salad, only to smother it in mayonnaise or salad cream. If you find the urge to strong to resist eating an undressed salad, then use low fat sauces.

Vegetable Balti

March 10th, 2010

While cooking my Chicken Korma recipe, I thought I would make my life a little more fun (or should that be difficult) by making a second curry dish for the first time too, on our curry night.  This is one of my girlfriends’ favourite currys, so had a search online and came across this Vegetable Balti Curry recipe on the BBC Good Food site.  I knew she would be happy when telling her it would be high in fibre and vitamins, while low in fat and hopefully very tasty!

This recipe sounded perfect, though I wish I could have made the paste for this as well as the Korma!  Instead, I had to get a jar of Patak’s Balti curry paste which I had never used before, but fingers crossed was hoping would do the job ok.

After getting all the ingredients for the Korma ready and having made the Korma paste, I set about peeling, chopping and cutting all the veg needed for this dish.  I didn’t use all the same veg as mentioned on the Good Food site but used what I had in my vegetable racks, which was close enough!  My only major change was using parsnips instead of turnips and only using half the amount of butternut squash and making up the rest, using some sweet potatoes that needed to be used up.

I found this such a simple recipe to make and was really glad I could leave this to cook and simmer while working on the more complex Korma at the same time.

The best part about this curry, was the fact my girlfriend and I both thought it tasted as good as the Vegetable Balti from our local restaurant.  We ate half of it on our curry night and froze the rest in the hope of having it again one night soon!  This I think, will become a regular home favourite with us.

Serves 4

1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 large onion , thickly sliced
1 large garlic clove , crushed
1 eating apple , peeled, cored and chopped into chunks
3 tbsp balti curry paste (we used Patak’s)
1 medium butternut squash , peeled and cut into chunks
2 large carrots , thickly sliced
200g turnips , cut into chunks
1 medium cauliflower , weighing about 500g/1lb 2oz, broken into florets
400g can chopped tomatoes
425ml hot vegetable stock
4 tbsp chopped coriander , plus extra to serve
150g pot low-fat natural yogurt

1 Heat the oil in a large pan, then add the onion, garlic and apple and cook gently, stirring occasionally, until the onion softens, about 5-8 minutes. Stir in the curry paste.

2 Tip the fresh vegetables into the pan and add the tomatoes and stock. Stir in 3 tbsp of the coriander. Bring to the boil, turn the heat to low, put the lid on and cook for half an hour.

3 Remove the lid and cook for another 20 minutes until the vegetables are soft and the liquid has reduced a little. There should be some liquid remaining, but not too much. Season with salt and pepper.

4 Mix 1 tbsp of coriander into the yogurt to make a raita. Ladle the curry into bowls, drizzle over some raita and sprinkle with extra coriander. Serve with the remaining raita and warm mini naan breads.

Try different vegetables - shallots, broccoli, swede, sweet potatoes, peppers and mushrooms would go well together.
